
PH Extreme Heat Index Alert Warning Issued Today | Stay Safe
PH Extreme Heat Index alert: PAGASA warns of up to 46°C today in 13 provinces. Stay indoors, hydrate, and avoid outdoor activities.
Manila, Philippines – June 02, 2025 – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a public warning as the PH Extreme Heat Index reaches critical levels across 13 provinces today.
The agency reported that the heat index could rise between 42°C and 46°C, considered “danger level,” which may result in serious health risks. Affected areas include Metro Manila, Tuguegarao City, Iloilo, Tacloban, and Zamboanga.
“This is the peak of the dry season. We urge everyone to take this warning seriously and protect themselves from heat-related illnesses,” said Ariel Rojas, Weather Specialist at PAGASA.
Public Safety Advisory:
PAGASA recommends the following:
- Stay indoors from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Drink plenty of water regularly
- Avoid outdoor physical activities
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothes
The Department of Health (DOH) also issued guidance, warning that the PH Extreme Heat Index may cause heat exhaustion, heat cramps, or heatstroke. Symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, or fast heartbeat must be taken seriously.
Local government units have been directed to:
- Activate emergency protocols
- Establish public cooling stations
- Disseminate health alerts at the barangay level
